Time or "Clock Time" The chicken or the egg?

THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO our ancestors used the night’s sky and other means later, such as the water clock and the sundial for estimating the passing of time. The nights were full of danger, darkness and the cold. Knowing when to plant the crops in the spring so the harvest would be plentiful in September meant survival through the harsh winter months.   The day’s Sun brought light, plant life, warmth, safety, and hope—there was no TV or Ruby Tuesday’s. The movie night out was the night’s sky—watching the phases of the moon, the planets and the stars shifting to help navigate through the seasons of time, pondering the mystery? It worked for them it had to, it was a way to capture and use time as a tool for their advantage and survival.

Life was different then and how they viewed time was very different.

The calendar and clock system is based on the earth’s revolution around the sun, and the moons cycle moonthly. Early civilizations were in touch with time, but in a radically different way than for us today. With no sophisticated equipment, radar, or satellites for guidance, they relied on the sun, moon, stars, planets, and their overwhelming awareness of timewhich has been lost with us today.  Some say the monthly cycle is just part of the natural rhythm of the universe and would agree, certainly for back then, but now in 2017 I would suggest most have lost that essence of those once needed natural rhythms, besides the fisherman with the tides, the farmers with the seasons and women with their monthly cycles. Take a look at the Natural rhythm of the Moon around the Earth, which goes around the Sun in 365 days.

People today don’t give time much thought outside the world of clock-timethe 12 hour manual clock that has been handed down from generations, and as Deepak Chopra says, “a conditioning of social hypnoses” when it comes to time today.

Greek mythology gave us Janus for January, the God of opening and closing doors—Thor the God of thunder, for Thursday—the Romans gave us the months July and August, and March for Mars, the ancient god of war.  In Latin; September means seven, but is the ninth month today, October, means octo "eight," but is the tenth month today, November means novem "nine", but is the eleventh month today, and December means decemten", but is the twelfth month today…?   The seven-day week comes from the seven most visible planets to man long ago—the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter?  They are just ancient beliefs and words from a time long past; systems created and changed over the years, by the ancient, or powerful of the moment to quantify time, and most likely implemented as a way to control the herd.

From The Origins of Our Modern Calendar by Linda Kerr—The word calendar is derived from the Latin calendarium, meaning an interest or account book, and is related to the Latin word kalend, meaning "I cry!"

What does all this have to do with a day’s worth of time for you today in the 21st century?  It is just 1440 minutes a day! That is all it is for me. A Tuesday is the same as a Saturday; a Monday is the same as a Sunday—being just another 1440 minutes in one earth day—nothing more and nothing less.
